You really only have to look at how many tracks on this album I love to know how I feel about it.
This was the album to bring me back to Ayu. This was the album that made me fall in love with her music all over again. This was the album that really and truly made me fell as though her music was fresh and original again.
And it’s all because it’s got a good mix of EDM.
Granted, it’s because of Ayu that I even like electronic music in the first place; before listening to her remixes I never would have touched anything that resembled EDM. But an entire album based around it? Be still, my heart.
Unfortunately, the sales performance for this album was far below normal standards for Ayu albums, even with her overall decline in sales, and was likely a factor in the direction of her next album, A ONE. Even if COLOURS ends up as nothing more than a single divergence from the norm in her discography, it’s one I’ll always treasure. It’s the album that brought me back to Ayu, and it’s the album I put on repeat for weeks straight as I remembered what it was like to love her music.
